Rimmer and O'Rourke on form

Helsinki provided the venue for strong performances from Michael Rimmer and Derval O'Rourke on Wednesday.

In form 800m runner Michael Rimmer set a new personal best with a 1min 45.23sec after an aggressive run that saw him take on the likes of South African Commonwealth Games champion Mbulaeni Mulaudzi.

The time took 0.24sec of the 20-year-old’s best and moved him up to 8th on the current European ranking list, just behind Richard Hill.

Meanwhile Ireland's Derval O'Rourke continued her fantastic season by taking another 0.07sec off her Irish 100m record. O’Rourke who won the world indoor 60m hurdles title at the start of the year ran 12.85sec to erase the time she set at the IAAF Super Grand Prix in Lausanne 15 days ago a fortnight ago.
