McCormick flies over 5K

Morpeth Harrier Nick McCormick has clocked an impressive new 5K PB and hit the European Championships 5000 metres qualifying standard.

McCormick, who is coached by prolific coach Lindsay Dunn was well inside the qualifying mark of 13min 32sec at the Andalucian Games in Huelva, Spain, with a time of 13min 25.34sec.

At the same meeting Katrina Wootton came in fourth in the women’s 1500m with 4min 10.58sec. Mark Lewis-Francis ran 10.45sec for third place in the 100m. Ed Jackson finished third over 1500m with 3min 42.82sec. In the 400m hurdles Rhys Williams 49.67sec and Matt Douglas 50.54sec were second and fifth.
