Britton heads Irish efforts in Milan

Fionnuala Britton of DCU was pick of the Irish results from the European Cross Country Champs. Britton finished just nine seconds down on the highly rated Binnaz Uslu of Turkey.

Mark Christie of Mullingar Harrier’s was another Under 23 medal hope however he struggled to make an impression on the race and came in 19th.

The best performance in the senior races came from Mary Cullen who came in 14th. Martin Fagan had carried great hopes into the senior men’s race but was unable to even start the race due to a stomach bug which was also the reason Rosemary Ryan pulled out of the senior women’s race.
