Mohamed Farah and Becky Lyne signed off their summer campaigns in style at the Newcastle/Gateshead road races.
The pair claimed wins in the David Lloyd Leisure Great North Mile races against top class opposition.
Farah’s victory came in a last gasp lunge for the line that saw him hand defeats to indoor world champion Ivan Heshko and World Cup winner Alex Kipchirchir.
Farah is now taking an end of season break before preparing for the cross country season.
As Farah moved down the distances Lyne moved up from her normal 800m and out gunned Tatyana Golovchenko of Russia over the later stages to win by about a second.
