Athletics Ireland has announced a team of 29 athletes for the European Championships in Gothenburg on August 7-13th.
Among the leading contenders for honours include:
Alistair Cragg – The European Indoor gold medallist and top ranked European at 5K.
Derval O’Rourke - World Indoor 60mH Champion who set a new Irish record of 12.92 recently in Lausanne and heading to Helsinki GP today
David Gillick - European Indoor Champion, currently ranked 9th in Europe
Roisin McGettigan - who smashed the National Record in the 3000SC at the weekend and is currently ranked 7th European
Marie Davenport – in the 10,000m who lies 5th on the 5,000m list.
Emerging talents include Joanne Cuddihy, who won the 200m and 400m at the National Championships, National High Jump record breaker and National Champion Deirdre Ryan, and Paul Hession of Athenry
