Birmingham UK Cross Challenge

National Cross Country Champion Peter Riley underlined his form with a win around the mud of Senneleys Park. Riley pulled away from his training partner Steve Vernon of Stockport Harriers at the front of the usual big field. AFDs European Junior XC silver medallist Andy Vernon overhauled Blackheath’s Michael Skinner in the second half of the race to take third as Skinner was also caught and passed by Bristol and West’s Kevin Heywood.

Hayley Yelling added yet another Senneleys Park victory to her list of successes in the Cross Challenge series. Yelling was 12sec clear of City Of Glasgow’s over the 6K course. Third place went to Bedford’s Jo Wilkinson who will be lining up for Britain at the Chiba Ekiden Relay in Japan on 23rd November.
