Pavey goes number two on the GB list

Jo Pavey has stormed to second on the GB all time list having set a new PB over 5K in Brussels in 14min 39.96sec.

The time, that is only behind Paula Radcliffe on the British all time rankings also moves her into 25th on the all time list.

Pavey has also announced that she is to line up for the Hydro Active Women’s Challenge in London on Sunday 3rd September.

Pavey will be toeing the line alongside Benita Willis-Johnson of Australia, Susan Chepkemei of Kenya, Berhane Adere of Ethiopia and Rita Jeptoo of Kenya. Also lining up will be Kimberley Smith of New Zealand who took nine seconds off her national 5K record behind Pavey in Brussels with a run of 14min 56.58sec.

“We are very pleased to announce the addition of Jo Pavey to such a strong field, and of course we naturally welcome the involvement of three times Flora London Marathon winner, World marathon record holder and current World Marathon champion, Paula Radcliffe”, said Race Director David Bedford.   

Paula will act as starters for the race before then joining the masses in Hyde Park.

Races will also be starting at 11am in Sefton Park, Liverpool, and at 10.30am in Birmingham City Centre.

A total field of 20,000  women are expected to line up in London, and amongst these runners will be the familiar faces of Jo Brand, Miranda Richardson, Floella Benjamin, Lisa L’Anson, Jenny Agutter and The Cheeky Girls.

Competing in Liverpool will be Marathon record breaker Tegla Loroupe of Kenya who won the London event in 2000 and Sonia O’Sullivan of Sports Fitness’s coaching section.
