Training for races
This training focuses is for you if you are targeting a specific event or events. You may be looking at a major race, a charity event or a time trial on the treadmill at the gym. You choose the goal, we take you there. All our schedules are tailored to your fitness and available time.
To start these programmes you only need to be able to run 10min at a time – walking will be included in the programme where you need it.
5K It may be a charity event such as Race For Life or a competitive season at 5K for a club runner. The 5K offers a lot of variety. Shorter events are always good starting point for people just getting into running.
5K/10K This training will equip you for both 5K and 10K events. This option is suitable if you are looking to race regularly over a combination of these distances. It is also a good choice if you are unsure of what your first, or next, event will be.
10K & cross country You may be a club runner looking to hit the road at 10K or to attack the muddy cross country over the winter. Or is a 10K your next stepping stone after a charity 5K. This will give you a good base of fitness as well as event specific training.
10K & half marathon Are you a regular 10K racer who runs the occasional half marathon? Or are you looking to run 10K and move on to a half marathon? This training will equip you to be successful at your goals.
Half marathon Does exactly what it says on the tin! Whether you are running a ‘half’ for a charity or looking to rip the road up on the way to a 13.1M personal best this is the route to success.
Half marathon & full marathon Many people enjoy running 13.1 miles and want to be ready to take on 26.2M too. Here is the training that enables you to do that. A big base of fitness to tackle these two events mixed with plenty of variety to keep you physically and mentally stimulated.
Marathon Whether it’s London, New York, Paris, Chicago, or Abingdon you pick the location and we’ll get you there in tip top shape. Of all the events the marathon is the one you least want to go into ill-prepared or train long and hard for only to miss that PB.
General distance running Some runners are not sure what is coming up next or just want to build a good base of fitness to begin with. This will get you in shape to run well at a range of distances or act as a great springboard for moving on to more event specific work.
