Lose weight the smart way
Most experts advise not losing more than two pounds per week. But if you are trying to train hard or compete this may be too much as you need to have adequate fuel to exercise and recover.
To lose one pound each week, you must have a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories. For two pounds this rises to 1000 calories each day – that is a lot! It may be achievable if you eat and drink a lot of excess calories. But if you are already on a healthy diet eating much less will be taking away valuable energy and nutrients.
Slashing your intake too much is not sustainable. This is both in terms of being willing to eat rabbit food indefinitely and also in terms of the damaging effects of doing so. It is far better to create healthy, sustainable, long term eating patterns. A few tricks, such as no chocolate, can be great to start off with and get the ball rolling. But look to move on to a diet and exercise routine that you enjoy and will give you the health, fitness body shape and lifestyle you want going forwards.
