Belief - the key to success say Craig Mottram and Andy Baddeley
Page 5: Andy Baddeley - Tapping into the rich heritage |
Previous Page |
Baddeley has benefited from the rich heritage of British distance running. At time it can lead to pressures or unhelpful comparisons but Baddeley sees positives: “We have got guys like Steve Cram and Dave Moorcroft. They have come up and spoken to me and I have seen what they have achieved on the footage; I am too young to have seen it live. Steve Cram jogged with me before the Dream Mile in Oslo and it gives you great confidence and shows the faith they have in you. It makes a difference to me.”
Of course the training also helps too. But the knowledge that the training is in the bank and has been effective is integral to the confidence that shows in a race. Both Baddeley and Mottram speak about the level of belief they have in the training they are doing and that is also what keeps them focussed on it week after week. To find out more about this see our article on the lifestyle and training of Mottram and Baddeley.
